6’3” 2027 Point Guard Trey Price Is Primed For A HUGE Senior Season For The Mater Dei Monarchs 📈🏀
One of the most slept-on point guards in California, Trey Price is heading into his senior year with plenty of momentum after putting together a strong spring and summer run with Dream Vision 17U on the 3SSB Circuit.
Price showed throughout the summer that he can impact winning in a variety of ways. At 6’3”, he has excellent size for the point guard position and combines that size with a high basketball IQ, poise, and an unselfish approach that makes everyone around him better. He consistently makes the right read, plays under control, and understands how to run an offense.
One of the biggest strengths of Price’s game is his ability to create opportunities for others. He has a smooth jumper that forces defenders to respect him, but he doesn’t hunt shots — he keeps his eyes up, makes the extra pass, and finds teammates in rhythm. He also excels at pushing the ball in transition, advancing it quickly, and keeping the offense flowing.
I spoke to Price recently and asked him about his individual and team goals for the upcoming season and he said: “My team goals for this season is to win the Trinity League and win the Open Division CIF and state titles. My individual goals are to be first team all league and county. Another team goal to win 18 more games to make McKnight reach his 1,334 win to help him become the most all time winningest high school coach of all time."
His strong showing with Dream Vision on the 3SSB circuit should give Mater Dei fans plenty to be excited about heading into the 2026-27 season. Price has already proven he can compete against high-level national competition, and now he gets the opportunity to take that experience back to the high school floor and lead the Monarchs.
Trey Price is the type of guard every coach wants — big, unselfish, smart, competitive, and committed to making winning plays. With a big senior season ahead, this could be the year his name starts getting the recognition it deserves beyond California.
