Standing at just 5’0”, Lily-Rose Gutierrez has emerged as the leader and heart of King High School in Riverside, striving to make a name for herself in her final campaign. A seasoned varsity player, Gutierrez began her high school career at Corona Centennial, where she played on varsity during her freshman and sophomore seasons. After taking her junior year off from competition, she transferred to King High School, a move that marked a new chapter both on and off the court.
Now in her senior season, Gutierrez has embraced an expanded role as team captain, stepping up as both a vocal leader and on-court playmaker. Her impact has been evident all season, highlighted by a season-high 28-point performance in the fourth game of the year during a win over Riverside Poly. Beyond the stat sheet, she has consistently contributed by doing the little things—setting up teammates, playing with high energy, and leading by example.
When asked about her goals for the remainder of the season, Gutierrez emphasized both team success and personal growth. “Team-wise, we want to learn how to adapt to this new environment and set my teammates up for success just as much as myself, in hopes to win a ring,” she said. On an individual level, she added, “I want to grow and thrive in this new role as a leader, elevate my game, and finish my senior year on a high note, taking what I’ve learned with me beyond high school.”
Currently sitting at 15–5 on the season, King High School has its sights set firmly on a CIF Southern Section title. As the season winds down, all eyes will be on Gutierrez and the Wolves to see how they execute in the crucial stretch ahead, led by a captain determined to leave her mark.
